Public Service Commissioner, Brian Kalk, along with his wife, Karen, hosted an ice cream social at Pride Dairy on Sept. 6 in association for Sixth District Republican candidate, Pam Smith, to grant individuals the opportunity to meet Smith, ask her questions and to hear her statements as to why she is running for a seat in the state’s upper house.

“My wife Karen and I are extremely excited to endorse Pamela (Pritchard) Smith to be our next state senator from District 6 which represents Bottineau, Willow City, Velva, Glenburn, Mohall, Lansford and the areas in between,” said Kalk. “Pamela and I grew up together in Bottineau and have always shared the strong desire to serve our communities, our state and our nation.”

Smith was greeted by numerous guests to the event and spent her time visiting with them about her goals for the Sixth District and state if she is elected in November.

“The main goal tonight is to give my friends, family and supporters an opportunity to stop by and visit with me personally and ask any questions they may have,” Smith said. “North Dakota is undergoing many changes. I have the background, experience and knowledge to make the right decisions for District Six. My main focuses are education, agriculture, military veterans and making sure our district has the right business climate and infrastructure to keep North Dakota prosperous.”

Smith has 20 years of government experience and managed quality of life programs such as education, child care and employment at federal, state, regional and local levels.

She is also an alumnus of Dakota College at Bottineau and Minot State University; a Dakota College of Bottineau Foundation Executive Board member and was raised in Bottineau and makes her home at Lake Metigoshe.
