For car enthusiasts, Saturday, Sept 15, the Bottineau Car Club will hold its first annual “Show and Shine Public Choice” event, which will include assisting local charities.
“The last time the club went for a drive we started talking about having a car show. So, my husband Fred and I volunteered to plan the show,” said Lisa Kainz. “The committee working on the Show and Shine has made this show a charitable event to assist others in the community.”
CAR SHOW
The car club is inviting all cars, trucks, SUVs, motorcycles, hot rods and work in progress to show up and participate in the car show.
“If you love what you drive, we want you to share,” Kainz said.
PRE-REGISTRATION
Pre-registration is required to enter a vehicle, but the registration fee isn’t cash, but handing over food items for those in need.
“The only cost is one non-perishable food item to be donated to local charity,” Kainz said. “Of course, you can donate more than one item.”
The food items collected will be donated to the Bottineau’s AmVets.
Pre-registration can be conducted through the Bottineau Chamber of Commerce office by calling (701) 228-3849 or e-mailing the chamber at bcc@utma.com.
Presently, there are over 30 vehicles registered for the Show and Shine.
GENERAL PUBLIC
The car club especially wants a large turnout from the general public since it will be the public voting on the winners of the car show.
ACTIVITIES
Outside of the car show and contest, Bottineau’s car club is planning a lot of activities for all to enjoy. Some of the events will include a car smash and a live performance by the music group, Highway 43.
Kainz stated that any vendors interested in being part of the car show who have a worthy cause they would like to support, are welcome to register their booths with no cost to them.
“If you have a dunk tank, like doing face painting, bake sales, silent auctions, raffle booths, which will help any charity, non-profit organizations, special interest groups that help in our community like the Crisis Center, church organizations, school projects, domestic violence, you name it, you’re welcome to be part of this event,” Kainz said. “It is open to anybody who has a good cause that wants to help in our community and our surrounding communities. We want this event to also be about doing charitable work and to help others who need help.
LOCATION
The event will take place in the parking lot of Bottineau’s Walmart starting at 10 a.m. The public can vote on their favorite vehicle from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with the winners and prizes given away at 3 p.m.
“Sponsors have been very kind in donating prizes for the Show and Shine,” Kainz said. “From a wide-screen television to a $250 battery, and a whole lot more, our sponsors have been kind in donating items for the winners of the show.”
SPONSORS
Sponsors include Bottineau Chamber of Commerce, Walmart, Carquest, Nodak Store, Premise Investments, Auto Value, NAPA and the National Guard. Any individuals, business or organization who would like to become a sponsor can call Kainz at (701) 201-1222.
