Dakota College at Bottineau Logrollers, and St. Andrew’s Foundation Office, will be hosting the first Lake Metigoshe Turtle Trot with its proceeds going to support athletic scholarships at DCB and the health center’s foundation office.
“The event is a 10K race and 5K fun run/walk to be held at Lake Metigoshe on Saturday, Sept. 15. Those wishing to do the 5K can run or walk, push strollers, bring kids, etc… to enjoy the experience,” said Patricia Halvorson, director of St. Andrew’s Foundation Office and co-chair of the event with Brandy Simpson, director of Dakota College at Bottineau Alumni Office. “The 10K race will be timed for those wishing to challenge themselves.”
The brochure for the Turtle Trot states that the event will take place on a pretty even course on the lake’s trail system.
“The mostly flat course gives runners and walkers of all abilities the chance to participate in the spirit of competition,” stated the brochure. “It is going to be a laid-back, fun atmosphere for participants of all levels combined.”
Individuals, who want to participate in the Turtle Trot, can register now through a number of outlets.
“Participants can register online through the Metigoshe Turtle Trot’s website; by picking up a brochure from area businesses, or through Brandy or I,” Halvorson said. “The brochure is also on the website for participants to print off and mail in, if they prefer that way instead.
The Metigoshe Turtle Trot’s website is metigosheturtletrot.weebly.com. Individuals can also go to St. Andrew’s website (www.standrewshealth.com) or the event’s Facebook Page (www.facebook.com/SAHCND) to register.
Interested parties may register on the event’s online site, through the mail or in person.
The results of the race will be posted on the Metigoshe Turtle Trot’s website.
Halvorson stated that St. Andrew’s Health Center and the Dakota College at Bottineau Logrollers are looking forward to the run/walk to take place.
“We are really excited to host the 1st Annual Metigoshe Turtle Trot! We hope everything goes well and participants enjoy themselves so this event can continue to grow and be hosted year after year,” she said.
