The Dakota College at Bottineau Ladyjacks have announced the signing of Leah Parizek from Surrey to play basketball for the 2012-13 season.

“We are excited to have added Leah to the Ladyjacks program,” stated DCB Head Coach Wayne Johnson. “She appears to be a great fit for the team. Leah has good size and she is very athletic.”

Parizek is a five-foot, 11-inch forward and played high school basketball at nearby Surrey High School east of Minot. In her senior season Parizek averaged 9.8 points per game and was on the All-District 12 team.

“She possesses good offensive skills both on the perimeter and in the post. We like to spread the floor offensively and she seems to have the tools to be very effective in our style of play,” Johnson stated. “We also like the fact that she can play any of the five positions on the floor which obviously will give us more flexibility in our attack.”

Parizek was also selected for the Hardest Worker Award each of her last four seasons by her teammates.

“We expect Leah to have a nice career with the Ladyjacks and as a student/athlete at DCB,” Johnson stated.

The Ladyjacks went 13-18 on the season last year, falling to Bismarck State in the semifinals of the Region XIII tournament. They had only one sophomore on last year’s team, and return leaders Jackie Miller, Shakira Walker and Jordyn Sondrol.
