Hattie Albertson has accepted a position with Dakota College at Bottineau (DCB) and will serve the school as its library director. Albertson replaces Deb Syvertson who retired from DCB and the end of 2011-12 school year.
Albertson was born and raised in Minot, N.D. She is a graduate of Minot High School, holds two Bachelor degrees in social science and English education from Minot State University and earned her Master’s degree in American Studies from Penn State.
After she and her husband Trent moved to Bottineau nine years ago, Albertson owned and operated the Little Red Rooster Book Store on Main Street. In 2007, she accepted a position with St. John’s high school where she taught high school English for four years. This past year, Albertson taught high school English in the Bottineau Public School system.
Albertson stated that she is looking forward to being the library director at DCB.
“I’m very excited to be here. I’ve always wanted to be part of an academic environment,” Albertson said. “So, it is exciting to be part of this college because this is such a great part of the community. I can’t wait to get involved in all the ways Dakota College at Bottineau works with the community people.
For the past eight years, Trent was employed as an agronomist with Souris River Co-op. This past year, he started his own agronomy business, Pro-Agra, which provides consulting in the agronomy field.
Hattie and Trent have a three and a half year old daughter, and in their spare time their family enjoys gardening, camping, canoeing and reading.
