With a kind donation from Walmart, Bottineau’s Senior Citizen members are enjoying their activities even more and are going into the future of the technology world.

This past month, Walmart donated a widescreen digital television to the senior citizen’s center at a value of $750.

“This was a very kind gift to the senior citizen members,” said Bob Abrahamson, president of the Bottineau Senior Citizen Center. “The television is already being used for the “Sit and Be Fit” exercise class, and we have future plans to use the televisions for the Wii video games, play movies in the afternoons during our Sunday brunches and looking into installing cable television and high speed internet through to television. We have decided it is time for us to move into the century.”

Jeff Shriver, manager of Bottineau’s Walmart Supercenter, said that donating the television to the senior center is about Walmart being a productive community member.

“It is about giving back to the community,” Shriver said. “Anything we can do for the community is important to us.”

MEMBERS NEEDED AT
UPCOMING MEETING

On Aug 7, the Bottineau Senior Citizen Center will be holding a meeting for its members.

“We have around 100 members and we want our members to be at the meeting so we can discuss installing handicapped accessible doors in the senior citizens’ building,’ Abrahamson said. “The project will cost $5,000 and we want to know if the members want this or not. It’s a great expenditure and we want the members to make the decision on what they want for the facility.”

The meeting will be at 2 p.m. at the Senior Citizen Center.
