The building of a new hotel in Bottineau will begin this fall with expectation of opening its doors next spring.

Cobblestone Hotels, LLC will be constructing a two story hotel that will equal 32,600 square feet.

“We have private investment money in place and are currently going through the steps with the city council,” said Pat Artz, who is the president of the State Bank of Bottineau, and the community member leading the project for Cobblestone Hotels, LCC. “If everything goes in order, we will break ground in September and be in operation sometime in March or April of 2013.”

Artz stated the hotel will have 45 rooms and a convention center which will have the capacity to hold 500 people, have a cocktail lounge and be utilized for a number of professional and personal events.

“The convention center will be on the first floor so it will be easily accessible for all ages, especially for the elderly,” Artz said. “We do not want to have guests to the convention center having to travel up and down stairs. We want them to come in and having everything they need on one floor.”

The hotel will be 22,000 square feet, with the convention center being 10,600 square feet, for a total of 32,600 square feet. The hotel will stand on 10 acres of land and will be located directly east of the Pamida/Shopko store.

Once open, the hotel will have two full time employees and 12 part time employees.
Jim Bortz, vice president of development for Cobblestone Hotels, LLC, stated Cobblestone Hotels offer extraordinary lodging.

“Cobblestone Inn & Suites offers high quality, upscale lodging rooms,” Bortz said. “There are standard rooms with king beds or two queen beds, rooms with king beds and whirlpools, and handicapped accessible rooms.  Each room has microwaves, refrigerators and flat-panel televisions.  We offer a hot breakfast to our guests as well as an exercise room, guest laundry and convenience store.”

Although Bottineau’s Cobblestone Inn & Suites will have a convention center, Artz stated that it will not have restaurant or swimming pool.

Within North Dakota, the cities of Langdon, Carrington and Killdeer have a Cobblestone Inn & Suites, with Harvey and Kenmare presently constructing Cobblestone hotels in their communities.

“The Cobblestone group is geared for smaller towns,” Artz said. “That’s its specialty, its niche – catering to smaller towns.”

Bortz stated that Cobblestone Hotels is pleased to be coming to Bottineau.

“We’re very excited to bring a new Cobblestone Inn & Suites to Bottineau,” Bortz said.  “Bottineau has many of the elements we look for in a community for starting a new Cobblestone.  It has high traffic, established and thriving businesses and a tremendous recreation/resort area just to the north of town.  The city staff and local residents have been wonderful to work with and we look forward to providing them with a great looking and well managed facility next spring.”

Artz is looking forward to seeing Cobblestone Hotels come to Bottineau.

“It’s a wonderful project, which I feel is going to help the community,” he said. “It is going to add an additional 45 hotel rooms to the area and the convention center will bring more groups and individuals to Bottineau, which will be beneficial to local businesses and community members. It’s going to be good for the area.”

Cobblestone Inn & Suites is headquartered in Neenah, Wisc., and have hotels throughout the Midwest part of the United States.
