To raise money the Family Crisis Center (FCC) of Bottineau is hosting their second annual “Afternoon in the Garden Tour” from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday Aug. 2.

The tour began last year as a fundraising event and was well attended. Family Crisis Center board members Avis Tvedt and Nancy Underwood hope to improve their numbers this year.

“We had about 50 people last year,” Twvedt said. “We hope to double that this year.”

The tour will visit four homes in the area as well as the campus of Dakota College at Bottineau.

Three of the gardens that will be toured will be:  Larry and Jeannie Orke, Dorothy Clark and Don and Joanne Vandal.

The garden of Larry and Jeannie Orke at 921 Elm Street is described as “lots of beautiful flowers and container gardening” by the FCC.

Another stop will be the garden of Dorothy Clark at 322 6th Street West. It is “a backyard shaded pavilion area and lots of potted plants with unique barn ornaments,” according to the FCC.

Additionally the tour will meander to the garden of Don and Joanne Vandal at 808 Main Street, which is “perennial beds with antiques,” according to the FCC.

Proceeds from the tour will go to the FCC for domestic violence needs. Refreshments will be provided throughout the tour.

To learn how to become a part of the tour for next year or any other additional questions, people are asked to contact Underwood at 228-2732 or ask questions as they enjoy the tour.
