Blada again dominates sport stocks at TMS

Thunder Mountain Speedway was again abuzz and filled with the roaring engines and fans of summer racing last Sunday night for the second time of the race season.
Nine Wissota Midwest Modifieds and 14 sport stocks zoomed around the oval dirt track north of Bottineau.
In the sport stock division points leader Erik Blada, of Kramer, made it a clean sweep victory for the second consecutive time of the season.
The 2011 track champion won his heat race, the trophy dash and the feature to extend his points lead over second place Steve Beckedahl by five to a total of seven points.
Beckedahl, of Landa, took third in both his heat race and the 20-lap feature race, while Matt Hunter of Bottineau captured runner-up finishes, playing second fiddle to Blada, in both the first heat and the feature race.
The top five point standings now stand at:
1. Blada 120
2. Beckedahl 113
3. Hunter 113
4. Pat Smith 108
5. Russ Reimer 104
On the modified side of racing on the night nine cars vied for the top spot in a heat race, trophy dash and a feature race.
Three different winners came out on top in each of the races as the competition was fierce and unrelenting.
The 08 car of Ray Smith took the checkered in the heat race, beating out the 97M of Jim Morlock.
Morlock struck back in the feature race, however, by edging Smith to finish on top in the 20-lap race.
Shawn Nostdahl of Bottineau, who finished third in the heat and fourth in the feature, took home the win in the trophy dash, earning a spot in victory lane.
Norm Reitan finished in third place in the feature race after a fifth place heat race finish.
With less cars in week two in the modified division, points stand at:
1. Smith 102
2. Morlock 100
3. Reitan 97
4. Tyler Dosch 93
5. Grant Hall 88
The Bottineau County Fair will give racers a break as it entertains the county June 15-17. Races resume on June 24 with the mechanics race, with hot laps beginning at 3:30 p.m.
