Braves, Stars tune up for regions

The Bottineau track and field teams got in another meet this past week as they participated in the Panther Booster Track Meet in Rugby last Thursday.
The Braves tallied 37 points to finish in ninth place out of 13 teams in the meet.
Top finishers for the Braves included: Alberto Moncero’s third place in the 100 meters with a time of 11.8 seconds; Trevor Wettlaufer’s first place finish in the 400 meters with a time of 52.93; Cody Bedlion’s fourth place finish in the 3200 with a time of 12:17.67; Bottineau’s 800 meter relay team’s third place finish with a time of 1:36.54 and Harrison Aide’s champion finish in the pole vault with a state-qualifying mark of 13 feet, six inches.
For the Stars a tally of 84 points was good enough to finish as runners-up in the meet to host Rugby, who had 179.66 points.
The Stars were led with finishes by Ashleigh Aufforth, second place in the 100 meters (13.27 seconds); Megan Fix, fourth place in the 100 (13.52 seconds); Aufforth, second place in the 400 (1:05.30); Fix, fifth place in the 400 (1:07.81); Tia Farnsworth, sixth place in the 800 meters (2:45); Bottineau’s 3200 relay team, third place (11:15.31); Maria Diepolder, first place in the pole vault (eight feet, six inches); Courtney Gallagher, third place in the long jump (15 feet, two inches) and Trista Bjerk, second place in the discus (95 feet, four inches).
The Braves and Stars will have their final meets this week before state at the Region Track Meet in Rugby on Saturday. If weather conditions look poor on Saturday the meet may be moved to Friday.
The Class B State Track Meet will be held at the Bismarck Bowl on May 25-26.
