Bottineau Courant earns prestigious design award

The North Dakota Newspaper Association held its 126th Annual Convention in Williston over the weekend where the Bottineau Courant was awarded First Place for Overall Design Excellence, along with 22 other newspaper awards.

The Overall Design Excellence award was in the category of 2,000 or more in its circulation and is one of the top awards granted to a newspaper staff in the NDNA.

The other awards in the individual categories are as follows:

  •  Leslie Baker – Second Place for Entertainment/Liquor Ad and Third Place for Food Ad
  •  Heather Milbrath – Second Place for Feature Reporting Series
  •  Tyler Ohmann – Third Place for Portrait Photo; Third Place for Reporting Series and Honorable Mention for Picture Story
  •  Scott Wagar – Second Place for Agriculture Photo and Third Place for Government Reporting
  •  Leann Weber – First Place for Small Space Ad; Second Place for Section/Feature Fronts Design Excellence and Honorable Mention for Signature Page
  •  Lynn Weber – First Place for Home/Garden Ad; Second Place for Ad Series; Third Place for Political Ad; Third Place for Single Ad and Honorable Mention for Home/Gardening Ad, Entertainment/Liquor Ad, Health Care Ad, Small Space Ad and Single Ad
  •  Leann Weber and Tyler Ohmann – Honorable Mention for Sports Page/Section
  •  Leann Weber and Lynn Weber – Honorable Mention for Special Advertising Section


Each year, newspapers from outside the state of North Dakota judges the entries and grants the awards for the NDNA.
