Local track teams compete

Area track and field athletes took to their respective events for just the second time this season last Tuesday at the Lloyd memorial Track Invite in Fessenden.
On the boy’s side Bottineau finished 10th as a team with 24.5 points, while Glenburn-Westhope-Newburg accumulated 10 points to finish in 13th place.
Top finishes for the Bottineau boy’s include: Trevor Wettlaufer in fourth place in the 100 meters with a time of 11.76; Ty Domben in fourth place in the 800 with a time of 2:15.25; the 800 relay team finished in fifth, and the 1600 relay team took third; Braden Pewe jumped a height of five feet, four inches to finish sixth in the high jump.
GWN finishers on the boy’s side included Calder Solloway’s first place finish in the high jump with a jump of five feet, ten inches.
On the girl’s side it was Bottineau racking up 46.5 points to finish in fifth place.
Top finishes for the Stars included: fourth place with a time of 13.3 in the 100 meters for Ashleigh Aufforth, Megan Fix took sixth in the 100 with a time of 13.47; the pair of Aufforth and Fix took fourth and sixth in the 200 as well; Whitney Page finished in third in the 200 with a time of 27.70; sophomore Courtney Gallagher took fifth in the long jump with a jump of 15 feet, three inches; the 800 meter relay team of Bottineau’s finished in second place with a time of 1:49.92.
Friday’s Velva Invitational and Saturday’s Langdon Invitational were on the schedule last week, but were postponed due to weather.
The next meet for track and field is at 3:30 p.m., today at Rugby. There are also potentially meets on Thursday in St. John and Friday at Velva.
