Brian Palmer has accepted a position with the Bottineau School District and will serve in the capacity as its elementary principal. Palmer will replace Mike Forsberg who has made the decision to retire after being employed in Bottineau’s school system for 21 years, with 16 years as the elementary principal.

Palmer was born in Minot and was raised just north of Minot, N.D. He is a 1998 graduate of Glenburn High School and received his bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Minot State University in 2000. In 2006, Palmer earned his master’s degree in educational leadership from North Dakota State University.

As an educator, Palmer taught fifth grade at Leeds Public School from 2002-03.

He was employed with Divide County Public School from 2003-08, teaching fifth grade, sixth grade, Title I Math and Title I Reading. Palmer was also the assistant elementary principal and the elementary principal at the school.

Palmer is presently the elementary superintendent at Mt. Pleasant School in Rolla, a position he has held for the past four years.

Although Palmer has enjoyed his time at Mt. Pleasant, he made the decision to come to Bottineau’s school district to have more interaction with the students.

“For the past four years, I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to work as superintendent in a wonderful school and community,” Palmer said. “I have enjoyed my time in Rolla, but have decided that I miss having the opportunity to work with students on a more direct level than the superintendent position allows.”

With the move over to Bottineau, Palmer says he is pleased to be starting his new position in Bottineau’s school district.

“I am excited to be coming to Bottineau,” he said “I believe that Bottineau has a strong school system and the community has a lot to offer.”
