The Dakota College at Bottineau made the trip to Miles City, Mont. March 23-25 to play five games against both conference and non-conference opponents.

The Jacks dropped four of the five games, including the first four straight.

DCB played a pair of games on March 23 against host Miles City and MonDak rival Williston State.

Against Miles City the Jacks managed only three hits and were unable to produce any runs.

The Pioneers scored 10 runs on 10 hits to complete the win over the Jacks in five innings. DCB committed only one error in the loss, but gave up four runs in the fourth and three in the fifth to make it to the mercy rule.

In the second game for DCB the Jacks took on Williston State.

Neither the Jacks or the Tetons were unable to score as the teams were deadlocked through three innings.

The Tetons broke open the game in the fourth with a two-run inning. WSC added another in the fifth and two more in the sixth to finish with a 5-0 win.

DCB had only four hits and committed three errors in the loss.

Day two did not fair any better for the Jacks from a results standpoint as DCB dropped two more games to MonDak opponents.

First the Jacks fell 6-3 to Dawson Community College.
The Jacks fell behind 6-0 after six innings as Dawson scored four times in the fifth inning to break the game open.

DCB came back with three runs in the bottom of the seventh, but the rally was squashed.

Each team had seven hits, but DCB left 12 runners on base in the game.

The second game of the day was another match against the host Pioneers.

The Pioneers pushed across five runs in the third and four in the fourth to take a 11-2 lead, and went on to win 11-3.

DCB got a tournament-best eight hits in the loss, but allowed eight hits and committed two errors.

The Jacks finished the tournament out on a good note with a 2-0 win over Prairie Baseball Academy (PBA) on March 25.

The Jacks scored runs in the first and third to take a 2-0 lead.

DCB’s pitching held PBA to only two hits in the contest and no runs. DCB had four hits in the win.

Following the 1-4 trip to Miles City, DCB sits at 2-10 on the season thus far.

“Obviously not the record we are striving for but there have been lots of positives to provide some hope. We have had glimpse of good hitting, pitching and defense but we have so far failed to put them together on a consistent basis,” stated DCB Head Coach Eric Kester-Mabon. “Good news is there is a lot of season left to go and I am looking forward to seeing our team get better as we move along.”

DCB traveled back to Miles City last weekend for a four-pack of games against the Pioneers. Results were unavailable by press time.

The Jacks do have their home opener at 1p.m., Friday April 6, as they host a doubleheader against Bismarck State College.

The rivalry continues on Saturday, April 7 as the Jacks travel down to Bismarck for a pair of games.
