Local athletes named to shrine bowl roster

Two Bottineau High School football players were named to the west’s Shrine Bowl roster this past week.
Senior’s Mark LaCroix (WR/LB) and Matt Bowers (FB/DE) were part of the 34-man team.

LaCroix caught 30 passes for 585 yards and eight touchdowns as receiver for the Braves who finished second in the West Region of Class AA.

Bowers ran for 748 yards on 134 carries and had four touchdowns for the 8-2 Braves.

Bowers will be playing for Valley City State University next fall.

Senior lineman Josh Farmer from Westhope-Newburg-Glenburn also made the roster. Farmer is slated to play at Minot State next fall.

Bottineau Head Coach Rob Bedlion was also named as an assistant coach for the Shrine Bowl, which will be played on July 14 at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks.
