A 48-32 win over the Westhope-Newburg Sioux yesterday evening advanced the Bottineau Stars to the Region 6 tournament another year.

The Stars were led by senior Trista Bjerk, who had 13 points in the win.

Also in double figures for the Stars were sophomore Danielle McDonald (13) and junior Katryna Hahn (11).
Bottineau began the tournament in a sloppy 54-33 win over the Dunseith Lady Dragons.

There were more than 60 turnovers between the two teams as the Stars swiped 24 steals from the Dragons.
Bottineau did their damage early including an eight-point run where Dunseith did not even get the ball across the mid-court stripe.

Bjerk led the Stars with 13 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals.

Also doing well in the win were seniors Whitney Page (10 points, seven rebounds, five assists) and Heidi Artz (nine points, seven steals, four rebounds).

The win on Friday put the Stars in the semifinals against top-seeded Velva.

The Aggies successful season continued as they took down the Stars 56-42.

McDonald was the only Star in double figures as she had 17 points and five rebounds in the loss.
Page had eight points and eight rebounds.

The Stars advance to regions with an overall record of 12-10 on the season.

They will kick off the region tournament as they play top-seeded Bishop Ryan from District 12 at 6:15 p.m., Monday, March 5.
