Braves win, get awarded

Several Bottineau Braves were awarded following the District 11 Tournament on Feb. 11.

First, Bottineau senior Justin McCloud was named the District 11 Senior Athlete of the Year.

Also the senior trio of McCloud, Mark LaCroix and Devon Grenier were selected by the coaches to be on the All-District team.

Finally, Bottineau Head Coach Nate Simpson was named the District 11 Coach of the Year.

The Braves (22-1) opened the Region 6 tournament yesterday with a 74-36 win over the Glenburn Panthers, who were the fourth-seeded team out of District 12.

Bottineau will continue its region trek with a game against Des Lacs-Burlington at 6 p.m. tonight at the Minot Auditorium.

If the Braves beat the Lakers they will play in the championship at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

The winner of the Region 6 Tournament will gain entrance to the state tournament, which begins on March 1 in Grand Forks.
