Alderman Brad Gangl of Ward 2 has officially handed over his Letter of resignation to Mayor Doug Marsden and will immediately step down from his council seat.

Gangl gave his resignation letter to Marsden on Wednesday evening (Jan 25), which simply stated he was resigning, but gave no reference as to why he was stepping down from the council.

Gangl was voted into his council seat in June of 2006 and was currently serving his second consecutive term as one of two councilmen in Ward 2.

Prior to his resignation, Gangl was on the finance, police, health, employee, tax exemption and advisor committees.

During the past two and a half months, Gangl, on his committees, has had some issues with his fellow aldermen, city employees, city department members and local residents of the town. One local group in Bottineau filed a recalled election on Gangl, which was sent to the state just over a week ago.

On Thursday morning, the Bottineau Courant spoke with Gangl about his resignation and as to why he rendered his letter to the mayor, which Gangl answered, “No comment.”
