The Bottineau Stars fell a couple notches after dropping games to district rival Towner-Granville-Upham and state-ranked New Town this past week, however they were able to begin the week with a 66-44 win over the Langdon Cardinals.

That win came as the Bottineau offense had four players in double figures in their best offensive output of the season.

Seniors Whitney Page, Heidi Artz and sophomore Danielle McDonald all had 14 points in the winning effort.

Also in double figures for the Stars was junior Katryna Hahn.

The Stars led by seven after one quarter and 11 by halftime. The lead only grew from there until it was a 22-point final margin.

Thursday evening the Stars  luck turned as they lost a heart breaker at home to the TGU Titans.
Bottineau held a 14-13 lead at halftime, but fell behind in the third quarter. They made a final run in the fourth, but ended up short in a 38-34 loss.

The battle was gritty and defensive as neither team was able to top 20 points in a quarter.

Stars senior Heidi Artz led all scorers with 12 points. Katryna Hahn, Trista Bjerk and McKenzie Jensen each had six points in the loss.

Ashley Brodehl had 11 to lead the Titans to victory in the District 12 match up.

Bottineau dropped another game as they fell 62-36 to seventh-ranked New Town on Saturday.

Four New Town players were in double figures as the Eagles continued their undefeated season.

Freshman Stephanie Brenden was the only Stars player to reach double figures with 10 points. Hahn and Page each had six points in the losing effort.

The 1-2 week dropped the Stars to 4-5 on the season.
The Stars continue their season with a 7:30 p.m. home game on Tuesday against district opponent Drake-Anamoose. The Stars will also play Friday at Dunseith and at home again Saturday in a boys/girls double header against Bishop Ryan.
