Tuesday was not the Westhope-Newburg Sioux’s idea of a good time. The Sioux took on Towner-Granville-Upham in Towner and were pounded 66-44 by the Titans.

The loss was the Sioux’s fourth straight, dropping them to 4-8 on the season.

The Titans jumped ahead early taking a seven-point lead by the end of the first quarter. The Sioux drew within five at halftime, but were out scored 34-17 in the second half.

Sioux shooters shot a dismal 29 percent including only 4-of-19 from three point range.

Leading scorer Kodie Hancock, a junior, was held to 13 points on 4-of-17 shooting. He did have six rebounds and three blocks.

Sophomore Hunter Braaten had 12 points, six boards and three assists in the loss.

Also a major contributor for the Sioux was Jon Sivertson, who had nine points, but was only 2-of-10 from the field and 3-of-6 from the free throw line.

The Sioux will go on to play at 7:15 p.m. against Drake-Anamoose on Thursday evening.

They played against Rolla last night, but scores were unavailable by press time.
