A match up with state-ranked Bishop Ryan ended exactly as predicted as the Westhope-Newburg Sioux were decimated by the Lions 72-29 last Monday evening in Minot.
The sputtering offense that plauged the Lady Sioux last week against Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood continues as junior Hadlee Schell was again absent in the match up.
And as against the Mavericks the Sioux were held scoreless in the first quarter. The Lions built the lead to 27 by halftime and finished by out scoring the Sioux 37-21 in the second half to cap a 43-point win.
The fourth quarter was most productive for both teams as the Lions scored 25 points and the Sioux 13.
Three Lions players were in double figures led by Anika Rovig who finished with 15 points.
Freshman Molly Lodoen led the Sioux with eight points. Junior Jade Teske added seven and senior Kylee Conway had five for the Sioux.
Also with baskets for Westhope-Newburg were Bailey Tofteland, four points, Lauren Mach, three points and Maddy Lodoen, two points.
The loss dropped the Sioux to 0-4 on the season. They lost twice in the Shoot out on the Prairie to start the season and then fell to the Mavericks.
Next up for the Lady Sioux is a date with Rolla at 7:15 p.m. on Jan. 3 in Westhope.
