The Westhope-Newburg Sioux marched past the Max Cossacks last Tuesday night and evened their season record at 4-4 with the non-conference win.

The 82-65 win on the road was the second straight win for the Sioux away from home.

Junior post Kodie Hancock played a big role in the Sioux victory by posting 25 points and nabbing 11 rebounds, both team-highs.

The Sioux jumped out to an eight point lead after the first quarter, and clung to that lead in a tough second quarter.

In the second half the Sioux took off, and their outside shooting (7-for-14) carried them to an 82-65 win over the Cossacks.

Also in the scoring fray for the Sioux were sophomore Hunter Braaten (16 points, six rebounds) and Brent Romsos (12 points on 4-for-4 three point shooting).

In the mix in the win for Westhope-Newburg was senior Wyatt Kitzman who had a team-high eight assists and five steals.

Max was led by Brett O’Grady, who had 23 points.
Following the holiday break the Sioux will open the new year with a tough test at Bishop Ryan on Jan. 2.
