Bottineau’s First Lutheran Church will be holding its annual community Christmas dinner this year and will be offering a traditional holiday meal.
“Individuals, who are going to find themselves alone this Christmas, and would like to have companionship, are welcome to partake in Bottineau’s sixth annual community Christmas dinner at the First Lutheran Church on Main Street,” said Diane Pearson, co-director of the community Christmas dinner with Marlene Marquardt. “The event will take place on Dec. 25 between the hours of 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.”
Eunice Ketterling, and her husband, the late Lester Ketterling, established the community Christmas dinner in 2005 to offer local residents, who didn’t have a place to go for Christmas, a holiday meal with a side dish of friendship and companionship.
“This meal is for all people who are single, elderly, couples that have no family members or the younger people in town who have no one at Christmas time,” Ketterling said. “They are welcome to enjoy themselves with others during the spirit of the season.”
This year, the First Lutheran Church will be having a turkey and ham dinner with all the trimmings that come with a Christmas dinner. The meal is free and no offering will take place at the event.
Individuals who are planning on attending the Christmas meal, or need transportation to the dinner, are being asked to call the church (228-2228) or Pearson (228-3085 or 263-5740) to make reservations.
Any local individuals, who would like to volunteer in the community Christmas dinner, are asked to contact Pearson or Marquardt.
Prior to the dinner, the First Lutheran Church will hold a Christmas service starting at 10 a.m.
