Despite nearly missing the opening face off, the Dakota College at Bottineau Lumberjacks hung with the Williston State Tetons last Wednesday.

The DCB bus was held up due to icy road conditions, and the Jacks nearly missed their meeting with the Tetons.

“Considering we got to Williston 15 minutes before warm up because of icy roads I thought the guys came ready to play,” stated DCB Head Coach Travis Rybchinski.

Bottineau skated with the Tetons and trailed 1-0 heading into the final frame. In the third though Williston opened up with back-to-back goals to take a 3-0 lead. Julius Tamasy and Ian Harvie were the heroes for the Tetons.

DCB’s Brenden Cawston made it interesting with a goal at 10:15. Seth Serhienko assisted.

Williston closed the door though with an empty netter by Cody Skilling to finish off the Jacks for the second time this season.

“We played a pretty good road game but had some mistakes that they put in our net,” Rybchinski said.

Troy Chandler stopped 48 shots as he was barraged by the Tetons. Rybchinski was happy with his play.

“Troy had a solid game, we just have to get more pucks to the net and score some goals,” Rybchinski said.

The loss pushes DCB’s record to 4-8-1 on the season.
The Jacks will next play at 7:30 p.m. tonight against rival Minot State University. The Jacks will then finish the home and home series in Minot at 7:30 p.m. on Friday night.
