The Bottineau Stars advanced one step closer to a Region 6 championship as they swept the Bishop Ryan Lions yesterday afternoon in Minot.
The Stars, who were the top seed from District 12 after winning the district title last Monday, used wins of 25-16, 25-7 and 25-19 to dispatch the fourth-seed from District 11 Bishop Ryan.
“We suffered a few little momentum swings, but overall we played well,” said Stars Head Coach Sienna Bullinger after the match. “That three o’clock game can be tough to play in. We came out a little flat, but we caught up the rest of the match.”
Senior Heidi Artz had 14 digs, which put her over 1,000 digs for her career.
Fellow senior Whitney Page had a solid night in the win. Page had 13 kills, nine digs, four blocks and was 9-for-9 from the service line in the win.
Mikayla Hahn also did well for the Stars. The Bottineau senior led the Stars with three aces, 13 digs and also had a block. Senior Ashleigh Aufforth led the Stars with 32 set-assists.
Sophomore Danielle McDonald and junior Katryna Hahn each had seven kills.
The Stars advance to play the winner of Velva and Our Redeemers at 6 p.m. tonight at the Minot Auditorium.
The winner of the Velva/Our Redeemer’s game was not announced by press time.
