Several Sioux named to All-Region team

Five Westhope-Newburg Glenburn Sioux players were named to the All-Region team this past week.
Senior lineman Josh Farmer, senior back Taylor Lesmann, junior back Karlie Hancock and sophomore Hunter Braaten were all named to the Region 2 first team.
Senior running back Jake Tengesdahl was named to the second team.
Tengesdahl led the Sioux with 751 yards rushing and seven touchdowns on the season. He had 38 tackles and a sack defensively.
Lesmann had 358 yards from scrimmage and eight touchdowns in his senior season. Defensively Lesmann had 35 tackles and two interceptions on the year.
The senior lineman Farmer led the team defensively with 76 tackles two sacks and three fumble recoveries. He was also a big part of the offensive line.
Braaten passed for 409 yards, three touchdowns and two picks at quarterback. He also ran for 454 yards and eight touchdowns. On defense Braaten had 39 tackles and two interceptions. He performed the teams punting and kicking duties as well.
Junior Karlie Hancock was another defensive leader for the Sioux, registering 44 tackles. As a fullback Hancock had 318 yards and four touchdowns.
The 2011 season marked the first season for the Sioux in 11-man football in Class A.
M.J. Stumpf of Harvey was named Region 2 Senior Athlete of the Year. Harvey coach Brad Sandy was named Region 2 Coach of the Year.
