VELVA - Bottineau High’s boys and girls golf teams both took part in competitions in Velva last week.

On Tuesday, BHS’s boys team made the trip south and finished fourth as a team, three spots behind Northern Lights. Jacob Kvernum led the Braves with a score of 87, while Ethan Jensen finished four shots back at 91. Austyn Lorenz shot a 93, and Tyler Rispa ended with 99.

Westhope-Newburg (W-N) was originally scheduled to take part on Tuesday but pulled out.

Thursday saw three Bottineau girls visit Velva. With fewer than four golfers, the Stars didn’t place in the meet, which was won by the hosts from Velva.

Abby Bristol and Megan Olson both led BHS with final scores of 109, while Alexis Kihle finished her round on 121.

BHS’s girls are back in action today at Minot Air Force Base and on Thursday in Underwood. Bottineau’s boys’ next meet is on Saturday in Rugby.

Both Bottineau’s boys and W-N’s are scheduled to visit Garrison on Monday.
