Five Bottineau students will be traveling to Mandan on April 25 to compete in the state speech competition in hopes that they will take first place in their competitions at state.
The five students from Bottineau that will participate in the state event includes:
● Laura Ellen Brandjord – Speech to Persuade
● Cody Monson – Speech to Inform
● Nikoli Schoenborn – Storytelling
● Nolan Pewe and Hannah Reimche – Humorous Dramatic Duo
In order to get to state, students in grades seven through 12 in the regular season of competition must place first in an event to qualify for state. Once students go into regionals, first and second places winners qualify for state.
For Jacob Clauson, coach for Bottineau’s speech team, he is pleased with the students’ performances in competitions.
“The kids have really impressed me. This being their first year in Speech many of them have exceeded my expectations and have shown great progress,” Clauson said. “Many of them have worked very hard and it has shown in their successes throughout the season.”
