RUGBY - Inclement weather last week wreaked a sizeable amount of havoc on the start of the high school golf season. A boys meet in Harvey scheduled for last Tuesday was called off, as was a girls meet set for Thursday at Minot Air Force Base.

A new boys meet was scheduled for Friday in Rugby, and both Bottineau High and Westhope-Newburg (W-N) attended. Bottineau finished fourth as a team - W-N didn’t place in the team event - while Northern Lights came away with the team title.

The top four scores from each team counted toward the team totals. BHS junior Austyn Lorenz led the way for the Braves by shooting 96, while senior Jacob Kvernum wasn’t far behindafter posting a score of 98.

Braves junior Ethan Jensen and sophomore Tyler Rispa both posted scores of 106.

Mason Mach led W-N with a score of 105, with fellow freshman Tate Wyman finishing one behind on 106.

BHS’s and W-N’s boys will compete again today in Velva.
