Robin Tolstad and Becky Braaten has decided to hold another Angel Walk on June 7, but the format for this year’s walk is going to change from last year’s and will not only focus on parents who have lost children, but will be about granting children better lives through three community service projects.
“The Angel of Hope has been paid for,” Toldstad said. “However, we have had a great response from last year so we decided to do it again.
“This year, we decided not only to remember the children who have passed, but to assist Westhope’s Park Board in projects they have, which includes constructing a bathhouse at the swimming pool, a second baseball diamond and repairs on the concession stand.”
The event will take place again on the south side of Westhope School, but where the walk will begin will change.
“Instead of starting at the school, Becky and I are planning to start the walk at the Westhope Cemetery,” Tolstad said. “We will start at the Angel of Hope where a service will be held and then all the teams will walk from the cemetery to the Westhope School where the opening ceremony will take place.”
Tolstad and Braaten are once again planning to have games for all ages, exhibitors and food stands for all to enjoy. They will also have luminary bags and the releasing of balloons in remembrance of those who passed.
“We are planning a nice, positive family event to remember the ones we have lost and to help the park board with their projects,” Tolstad said. “It is going to be a family fun event with the opportunity for everyone to be together. So, remember to bring the whole crew and have some fun.”
