The city of Newburg has a new business in its community which provides a nice range of knitting supplies and products for individuals to enjoy and cherish.

Judi Bradley has opened Judi’s Knit Knacks, which offers her customers such items as knitting kits, looms, tadpoles and boards. Bradley also has ancillary tools like crochet hooks, stitch markers, stitch holders, row counters and other useful items to assist knitters in their projects.

Although she doesn’t stock books on knitting in her store, Bradley can order any book an individual wants on knitting.
The one piece of merchandise Bradley doesn’t offer is yarn.

“I don’t carry yarn because in general you are never going to carry the right yarn,” Bradley said. “And, there are so many different brands and kinds out there I would never have a big enough place for it.”

Bradley, who is 60 years-old, stated that she likes using loom and boards because at her age it is easier to knit.

“Older people like looms and boards because it doesn’t hurt their shoulders, arms and hands like when they stitch by hand,” Bradley said. “It’s a way to continue knitting without feeling stiff or having pain.”

Bradley has been knitting for over 55 years and it is a love that she does every single day. When in her store you can see a number of items she has knitted. From a scarf to teddy bears, to hats and socks, Bradley has knitted items in rich detail that shows her years of experience.

At the present moment, Bradley is trying to organize a way to give knitting lessons to the area students. “There are not a lot of things for kids to do here,” Bradley said. “So, I want to start giving lessons to the kids and give them the opportunity to learn about knitting and give them a fun activity they can use all their lives.”

When Bradley decided to open a knitting store she had an empty living room she wasn’t utilizing so she decided to start up her business in her home. Bradley’s store is located in her home at 365 3rd Avenue, which is located in the southeast part of Newburg.

Her hours are 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Bradley also will receive customers on Saturday but by appointments only.
