One of the Dakota College at Bottineau’s (DCB) hockey team’s eight sophomores from last season will play next winter for a school he already knows well.
Ryan Miner, a goaltender for the Lumberjacks for both of the past two seasons, will transfer this summer to Minot State University (MSU). It was announced last week by MSU’s club team that the Winnipeg-born sophomore will play for the Beavers next season.
Miner appeared in 16 games for the Jacks last season and posted a 3-10-1 record. He ended his final campaign with DCB with a .870 save percentage and 4.95 goals-against average.
MSU head coach Wade Regier saw his Beavers play against Miner twice this past season, both in Bottineau and in Minot. MSU won both legs of the home-and-home season series.
“We are happy that Ryan is moving on to Minot State with Coach Regier,” DCB head coach Travis Rybchinski said.
“We will miss the hard work he brought to the ice and the classroom. He is a good person and will do well.”
“Coach Rybchinski gave me an opportunity to come here and play hockey and go to school,” Miner said, “and I’d like to keep going, finish school and get a career going as soon as possible.”
“My next two years will involve focusing on studies and getting to keep playing hockey.”
On top of playing hockey for MSU, Miner plans to graduate from the university with a degree in accounting.
