GLENDIVE, Mont. - Last weekend, the Dakota College at Bottineau (DCB) baseball team finished a six-game season-opening road trip. The end couldn’t come soon enough.

After splitting a doubleheader at Bismarck State two weeks ago, DCB visited Glendive, Mont., last weekend to take part in Dawson Community College’s (DCC) tournament. The Lumberjacks struggled there, losing each of the four games in which they played.

DCB squared off with Mon-Dak Conference rivals Williston State (WSC) and DCC twice each last Friday and Saturday. With the losses to WSC and DCC, the Jacks fell to 1-5 overall.

Each of DCB’s first six games of the season were against Mon-Dak opponents.

The Jacks opened tournament play on Friday with a 3-1 defeat to Dawson and a 15-1 loss to Williston.

DCB sophomore Brett Hebel pitched seven innings in the loss to DCC before classmate Nick Riglin got the loss against WSC.

Williston defeated the Jacks 8-2 in Saturday’s early game before the hosts from Dawson downed DCB by a 15-2 count in the curtain-closer.

Freshman and Bottineau High alumnus Lee Schneider picked up the loss in the rematch with WSC. Michael Choy was charged with Saturday’s loss to Dawson.

DCB will visit Williston on Friday before hosting the Tetons in a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. at the Lumberyard field on the DCB campus.
