ROSEMOUNT, Minn. - The Dakota College at Bottineau (DCB) softball team got its 2015 season off to a rough start last week. It was then that DCB won one of six games against Minnesota schools at the Minnesota Classic in Rosemount, Minn.

The Ladyjacks played all six games over a two-day span inside the Irish Dome in Rosemount. DCB played three games last Tuesday and lost all three before winning one of three more on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, DCB fell 4-3 to Itasca, 16-4 to St. Cloud Tech and 11-4 to Mesabi Range. When the Ladyjacks came back to the Irish Dome the following day, they were defeated 4-3 by Anoka Ramsey and 8-2 by Mesabi Range before DCB beat Itasca by a 5-4 count.

The Ladyjacks never trailed in their victory over Itasca. DCB’s bats were particularly lethal in the fourth and fifth innings when the Ladyjacks scored two runs in each frame.

Freshman outfielder Abby Mehling was DCB’s most productive player within the batter’s box. She finished the game 2-for-3 at bat and didn’t score herself but did drive in three Ladyjack runs.
DCB sophomore pitcher Taylor Glass pitched a complete game in the victory over the Vikings.

The Ladyjacks are idle this week ahead of a stretch next week in which they will play two doubleheaders in as many days.

The Ladyjacks visit Mon-Dak Conference rival Williston State next Friday before hosting the Tetons the following day in Bottineau. The week after, DCB will travel to Thief River Falls, Minn., to take on Northland before also visiting Dawson in Glendive, Mont.
