Moum competes at Junior Olympics

WINTER PARK, Colo. - Bottineau Winter Park (BWP) under-14 ski team member Kutter Moum took part last week in the Junior Olympics skiing event in Winter Park, Colo. The 13-year-old from Bottineau was the first skiier from the Bottineau area to qualify for the event in nearly 30 years.

On Wednesday, Moum was one of 109 of the best under-14 skiiers in the nation taking part in the Junior Olympics event’s super-giant slalom (Super-G) race. Moum finished the Super-G event in 59th place.

Thursday saw Moum take part in the event’s giant slalom race. Moum finished that event in 35th place.

On Friday, Moum returned to the Winter Park slopes for the Junior Olympics’ Kombi (slalom and giant slalom) event. He crashed on his first Kombi run and finished the event in 35th place.

Moum then finished his time at the Junior Olympics on Saturday in the slalom event. He finished the slalom portion of the competition in 55th place.
