Jenette Nelson has written a book about her daughter Ann and the creation of one of the greatest adaptive ski lodges in the nation all in honor of Ann’s great heart and soul that continues today even after she lost her life during 9/11 at the World Trade Centers in New York City.

Nelson’s book, “The Story of Annie’s House,” is a book about her daughter’s life, how Ann lost her life on 9/11 at the World Trade Center and how Annie’s House came to be at the Bottineau Winter Park.

The book grants readers a number of poems, stories and photos which gives a real insight into Ann’s life, especially for young readers.

“I have always intended to write a story about Ann,” Nelson said. “But my friend, Mary Stammen, called me one day and said that she thought I needed to write a story that could be read in third grade classrooms. This narrowed the scope a little for me, and I started to work.”

Although published for a younger age group, “The Story of Annie’s House” is for all ages to read.

The goal of Nelson’s book is two-fold with one major goal in mind.

“My goal is to help anyone, who is interested, to know Annie and how she lived and how she died,” Nelson said. “I hope this will inspire them to do all they can to make sure another 9/11 never happens again.”

Amazingly, Nelson wrote the book in a matter of days, but the process of writing the script was no easy task for her.

“It took a day or two. It just came to me without the usual planning, rewrites, etc… I then provided the pictures to Mary, who with the help of Jessica Johanson prepared it and submitted it to Shutterfly,” Nelson said. “The words came to me easily, but it is always difficult, emotionally, to relive the horror of 9/11.”

Individuals who wish to purchase Nelson’s “The Story of Annie’s House,” can go to Shutterfly, review the book for free and purchase the story from the site.
