The Bottineau Community Theatre will be performing the play “Anything Goes” later this month at Bottineau High School’s Holwell Auditorium.

The opening night is Feb. 26 at 7:30 p.m. The play will also run Feb. 27, 28 and March 1.

This is the fourth time that Tim Davis has directed “Anything Goes.” His first time doing this play was in 1970 with the high school, his second time was in 1977 with the college and his third time was in 1994 with the community theater.

“The reason we went with this play this year because we had the right cast size for the amount of people we had,” said Davis. “We were also able to create an amazing set because of my set designer (that) had made my thoughts come to life.

“Also, it is great to work with so many great people to put this play on for the community.”

“Anything Goes” is set aboard the ocean liner S. S. American, where nightclub singer and evangelist Reno Sweeney (played by Jaque Marum) is on route from New York to England.

Reno’s friend Billy Crocker (Chris Beckman) has stowed away to be near his love, Hope Harcourt (Leah Benson). The problem, however, is Harcourt is engaged to the wealthy Lord Evelyn Oakleigh (Luther Olson). Joining this love triangle on board the luxury liner is Public Enemy No. 13, Moonface Martin (Clint Saunders). Sweeney and Martin join forces to help Crocker in his quest to win Harcourt’s heart.

Anything goes is presented through special arrangements with the Tam-Witmark Music Library of New York.

Davis is always thankful for the group of people he gets every year to participate in the community theatre.

“A special thanks goes out to Jaque Marum the music director, Kim Schoenborn the choreographer, Betrice Krogen for the costumes, Dwight Olson for set design and Kay Refling for all the props,” Davis stated.

The cast for the play includes Beckman, Saunders, Marum, Benson, Olson, Margie Borkowski, Lori Erickson, Mitchell D. Myhr, Keith Pritchard, Jim Borkowski, Jeremy Dissette, Jared Munson, Nolan Pewe, Paige Hollinger, Deb Nelson, Leshawndi Follman, Kodi Bullinger, Kim Schoenborn, Annie Lytle, Judith Thompson, Pete Erickson, Angie Reinoehl, Heather Bartlett, Cassie Peterson and McCormick Thompson.
