Senate Bill 2263 which calls for an act of appropriation to the Department of Transportation (DOT) for matching grant money to be utilized in townships’ streets and roads was voted down in committee this past Wednesday, killing the bill for any further action during the 64th Legislative Assembly.

For Roland Township in Bottineau County, SB 2263 means the township will not get the $2 million its board members requested in the bill to fix roads in and around Lake Metigoshe.

Over the past decade, population growth, building permits and recreation use has caused a lot of damage to the roads in Roland Township.
