Bottineau’s U-19 girls’ hockey team picked up wins in both of its games last week, downing Manitou 2-1 in an exhibition game on Saturday before defeating Langdon 9-0 on the road on Sunday.

In Saturday’s game at Bottineau Community Arena, Stars forward Erin Severson and goaltender Jacie Ceglowski played big roles.

Severson set up Paige Vad for the game’s opening goal just 2:50 into the contest when Vad put home from close range the rebound from a longer shot by Severson.

After Manitou then leveled the game at 1-1 5:45 into the second period, Severson netted the eventual game-winning goal on a 5-on-3 power play for Bottineau.

Ceglowski was busy throughout the game and was arguably her team’s best player. She ended the game with 51 saves, including 20 in the third period.

The Stars then visited Langdon on Sunday and won easily thanks in part to 22 saves from backup goaltender Alexis Gullett.

Ceglowski and Sonja Gilje both scored twice on Sunday, and Severson, Mercedes McKay, Victoria Gullett, Cheyenne Sturlaugson and Paige Vad all scored once each.

Bottineau (9-3-0) will hit the road again on Friday to take on Sidney (Mont.). The Stars will then take on both Williston and Glasgow (Mont.) on Saturday in Williston.
