Sioux girls drop two

Westhope-Newburg’s (W-N) girls’ basketball team saw its current losing streak rise to six games last week when the Sioux fell twice more.

W-N hosted District 11 rival Towner-Granville-Upham (T-G-U) in Westhope on Tuesday Molly Lodoen scored a game-high 22 points to lead the Sioux, but W-N didn’t get enough secondary scoring to pick up a win on the night.

The Sioux then visited Dunseith on Friday night and suffered a narrow 49-48 defeat to the Dragons. Amber Hall led the Sioux with 16 points.

W-N (6-8) hosted Des-Lacs Burlington (DL-B) on Monday in Westhope after press time. The Sioux will be back in action on Thursday when it makes the short trip to Bottineau.
