The Dakota College at Bottineau (DCB) men’s basketball team saw its current losing streak extend to six games last week when the Lumberjacks dropped three games in seven days.

DCB’s rough week began last Monday when the Lumberjacks visited Glendive, Mont., to take on Dawson Community College (DCC). The Buccaneers won the game 76-60 thanks in large part to a strong first-half showing.

DCC took a 37-25 lead into the break before outlasting the Jacks over the course of the second half. DCB guard Gilbert Carter led the Jacks with 21 points, three assists and a pair of rebounds.

Jacks forward Keouvion McCalop was the only other DCB player to end the game in double-digits in scoring. He ended his night with 10 points and three boards.

NDSCS ROLLS PAST DCB

DCB then returned home on Thursday to take on North Dakota State College of Science (NDSCS) in another Mon-Dak Conference tilt.

That game didn’t go well for the Jacks, either, though, as NDSCS came away with a 92-64 victory in the Woodshed.

DCB put in a better first-half showing against the Wildcats than it had on Monday in Montana, and the Jacks only trailed NDSCS 39-35 at halftime. The Wildcats came back out firing on all cylinders, though, and outscored the Jacks 53-29 over the game’s final 20 minutes.

Carter and McCalop were two of DCB’s leading lights once again. Carter finished the game with a team-high 15 points, while McCalop wasn’t far behind with 14 points.

Jalyn Turner gave DCB good bench presence. He didn’t start the game, but he did finish it with 14 points.

ROYALS SQUEAK PAST JACKS

DCB’s visit to Lake Region State (LRSC) on Sunday went better, but the Jacks fell again by a 90-85 count.

Carter led DCB again with 20 points, while McCalop scored 19 and Turner posted 16 of his own.

The Jacks will hit the road again this Thursday to take on Canadian Mennonite University in Winnipeg. DCB will then return stateside ahead of its visit to Bismarck State on Monday.
