The women’s basketball team from Dakota College at Bottineau (DCB) has been short-staffed all season long. That’s not news at this point.

The Ladyjacks were particularly at a disadvatange on Thursday, however, when Bismarck State visited the Woodshed. BSC’s 19 players had few issues wearing down the six-strong Ladyjacks en route to a 103-84 win over DCB.

With only one player available to come off the bench at any one time, the Ladyjacks struggled greatly. The Mystics, with 13 on their bench on Thursday, jumped out to a 59-36 lead in the first 20 minutes and cruised the rest of the way to victory.

“They’ve got a lot of good athletes, they’ve got a lot of depth, and they can do a lot of things that hurt us,” DCB head coach Wayne Johnson said. “I thought we started the game out pretty well but they just wore us down and we couldn’t stay up with them.”

Guard Imani Scott, the Mon-Dak Conference player of the week from the week before, led DCB on Thursday with 27 points.

DCB (12-4) visited United Tribes on Monday after press time. The Ladyjacks will host Williston State on Thursday. Opening tip is set for 6 p.m.
