Bottineau High’s girls’ basketball team opened its 2015 slate with a win and a loss last weekend.
The Stars struggled on Friday on the road at non-district foe Watford City. The Wolves rarely struggled against Bottineau and cruised to a 84-50 victory. BHS center Kennedy Olson led the Stars with 13 points and five rebounds.
On Saturday at home against St. John, Olson again was the Stars’ leading light. Against the Woodchucks, she posted a game-high 27 points and 10 rebounds.
“I’ve been waiting for that from her,” Stars head coach Joe Bender said, “and it’s nice for her to get some confidence and get to the point where she’s playing that well.”
BHS (3-4) will host Velva tonight at 7 p.m. before visiting Kenmare on Saturday.
