Braves shoot for glory in Mandan

MANDAN - The Bottineau High boys’ basketball team has won one game and lost another thus far at the BNC Bank Mandan Holiday Tournament.

The Braves opened tournament play on Friday with a 69-43 loss to Hettinger-Scranton. BHS senior Parker Engelhard led the Braves with a team-high nine points in the loss to the Nighthawks.

On Saturday, BHS bounced back well with a 57-54 victory over Turtle Lake-Mercer-McClusky. 

Engelhard was a driving force for BHS once again with 21 points, while teammate Jacob Kvernum played all 32 minutes and pitched in with 16 points with the winning effort.

The Braves held a 2-2 record going into their final game of the tournament. BHS’s meeting with Wilton-Wing on Monday in Mandan concluded after press time.
