WESTHOPE - Westhope-Newburg’s (W-N) girls’ basketball team found out on Tuesday night what life is going to be like without senior center Lauren Mach.

The Sioux also found out what life is like without other members of their personnel, too.

In their 64-40 home loss to Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood (M-L-S), the Sioux had many strikes against them. Mach is out with a season-ending knee injury suffered two weeks ago, but W-N also lost forward Hannah Tofteland on Tuesday to an ankle knock.

Several other players were active but were battling illnesses. Add it all together, and M-L-S ended up having an easier time in Westhope than the Mustangs normally might.

M-L-S rarely trailed on Tuesday, and a 24-point second quarter from the Mustangs blew the game open.

W-N forward Molly Lodoen led the Sioux with 18 points.
The Sioux (4-2) will face Tioga on Saturday in Minot.
