Bottineau High School graduate, Mike Marchus, has opened a new business in Minot which offers a wide surplus for any item that is in need of batteries or bulbs.
The business is called Batteries Plus Bulbs and it’s a nationwide franchise with over 600 stores in 45 states and Puerto Rico that offer 45,000 different types of batteries, bulbs and accessories.
Marchus just opened his franchise as the owner and president of his store. He made the decision to open Batteries Plus Bulbs after being employed in law enforcement for 20 years and looking for a change in employment.
“I worked six years with the Minot Police Department and 14 years with the North Dakota Attorney Generals Office as a Special Agent with the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation,” Marchus said. “I have retired from law enforcement and I am doing the daily operations of the store.”
Batteries Plus Bulbs originated in Green Bay, Wis., in 1988 as a battery company with its first franchise store in Fort Wayne, Ind. In 2010, the company added light bulbs to company and have grown to become the largest and fastest growing franchise in the United States.
With the company’s success, Franchise Business Review ranked Batteries Plus Bulbs with the overall highest franchise satisfaction in the U.S. in 2012. Entrepreneur Magazine and AllBusiness.com also ranked the company number one as a retail battery franchise.
Marchus is excited to start his new business and is anxious to serve the Bottineau area in its batteries and light bulb needs.
Marchus’ store is located at 16 Street SW in Minot, which is near Cash Wise Foods and Gordmans and right next door to Uncle Maddios and 5 Guys Burgers and Fries. His hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays.
