Jalyn Turner has been a key reason for Dakota College at Bottineau’s (DCB) men’s basketball team’s success early on this season.

The sophomore guard’s exploits thus far for the Lumberjacks haven’t gone unnoticed. Last week, the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) named Turner its national Division II player of the week for Nov. 17-23.

The 6-foot-2 guard from Chicago came up huge that weekend in the Cobblestone Classic tournament hosted by DCB. The Jacks defeated both Northland (Minn.) and the junior varsity team from Concordia (Minn.) to win the competition.

Turner proved himself essential in both games.

Against Northland on Nov. 21, Turner posted 14 points and five assists in the Jacks’ 83-64 win against the Pioneers.

He then put up a team-high 35 points the following night in a 107-90 win over Concordia.
