Bottineau’s city Christmas tree was placed downtown this past week and it was a gift given to the people of Bottineau through a local woman who wanted to share Christmas with all of the community.

“It is a beautiful tree,” said Keith Fulsebakke, Bottineau’s city superintendent. “It stands tall and its branches fill the tree nicely. At times, we take evergreens that are in tree rows, but when you cut them down, the branches that were up against the other trees in the row do not grow out thick and full as they should. So, this is a great tree.”

Bottineau resident, Stacy Lorenz, donated the tree this year which stood on Ninth Street between Main and Sinclair streets.

“I knew I needed to do something about the tree because it was starting to take over my yard and grow into the power lines. The tree is beautiful but unfortunately my yard is too small. A while ago, someone mentioned donating it to the city to use as a Christmas tree and I decided that was the perfect solution. I hated to just cut it down and dispose of it,” Lorenz said.

“My kids and I love seeing the tree on Main Street and look forward to seeing it all lit up with Christmas lights. It really is quite exciting to see the tree everyday and know that it is helping to carry on the Christmas tradition in Bottineau.”

The city ordered new lights for the tree which has been placed on the tree.

Fulsebakke is asking that individuals make no left turns in the intersection where the tree is located.
