DEVILS LAKE - The Dakota College at Bottineau (DCB) volleyball team struggled in its lone match last week, dropping a 3-0 decision on the road on Thursday at Lake Region State.
The homestanding Royals had to work hard to win the first set 25-19. LRSC then coasted to a 25-11 win in the second set before besting the Ladyjacks again in the third by a 25-20 count.
DCB outside hitter Danielle McDonald was one of her team’s leaders on Thursday, and she recorded eight kills against the Royals. Ladyjacks middle hitter Tessa Walters also played a key role in making three kills and two ace serves.
Thursday’s setback continued a dubious pattern for the Ladyjacks. DCB has lost each of its last four matches, and the Ladyjacks were swept 3-0 each time.
The most recent of those defeats saw DCB’s record on the season fall to 4-17 in non-exhibition play
The Ladyjacks are much busier this week as they wind down their 2014 regular season. DCB will host the University of Jamestown’s junior varsity team on Tuesday night before visiting the North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton on Wednesday.
The Ladyjacks will then play in Williston this Saturday and Sunday at the NJCAA Region XIII tournament.
DCB’s opponents in the regional tournament at Williston State College have not yet been determined.
