GRAND RAPIDS, Minn. - The Dakota College at Bottineau (DCB) football team got back to winning ways on Saturday by defeating Itasca 17-13 on the road.
The victory over the Vikings came one week after DCB fell 45-31 at home against No. 16 Central Lakes. The Lumberjacks recoverd well on Saturday, though, in picking up their first win over a fellow member of the Minnesota College Athletic Conference’s (MCAC) Northern Division in DCB’s second attempt.
Although Itasca fell to 0-5 on Saturday, the Vikings didn’t make things easy for their visitors. DCB went into halftime up 10-6, but after a third-quarter score from Itasca, a game-winning touchdown from the Lumberjacks was required for them to boost their record on the season to 3-1.
The win allowed DCB to jump into second place in the MCAC Northern Division. Fond du Lac, last week’s second-place team, fell 35-32 on Saturday to Central Lakes and saw its overall record fall to 2-2.
The Lumberjacks are on the road again this Saturday at division rival Mesabi Range (1-3).
